Choir

The St. Luke Choir is a group of people who love singing our beautiful Orthodox hymns and enriching the worship experience of our St. Luke congregation. Its dedicated members enjoy a close fellowship and devote many hours to the Choir and other ministries of our church.

The choir sings Sunday Liturgy from early September through mid June, the Holy Week Services of Tuesday and Friday, the annual Christmas Pageant, and other important holy days. Rehearsals are held most Thursday evenings from 7:15 to 8:45pm, and occasionally after services on Sunday. We mainly sing the four part harmony music of many Greek-American Orthodox liturgical composers in both Greek and English.

The Choir was originally organized and directed by Artemis Romell in 1976 when St. Luke was founded. The first rehearsals were held in the basement of her home and the Choir sang at the first St. Luke Liturgy at Wilbraham-Monson Academy Chapel on February 20, 1977 and has continued strongly since then.

Over the past many years the Choir has participated in many community Ecumenical Services, Western Massachusetts Orthodox Services, Metropolis of Boston events and is an active member of the Metropolis of Boston Federation of Greek Orthodox Musicians.

The Choir warmly welcomes new members of any age. One does not need to read music well, or Greek, as phonetics are available and much of our music is sung in English.

Please contact the Director or any choir member for more information.
